The “Fishin’ Musician”!
Born and raised in Dallas(TX), Grant (a Choctaw Native) grew up a ‘child of the wild’ pursuing fish in any water he could find as soon as the training wheels came off! In his youth, he spent his summers in Central Missouri and Eastern Oklahoma with his outdoor oriented family, along with his home waters of White Rock Creek in North Texas, learning the ways of a fly rod for all water species!
In high school Grant, a scratch golfer, played D1 Division golf for Plano West and also started exploring the world of music as many others in his family had done! After graduating high school Grant set off for Durango, CO to attend college at Ft. Lewis. This where he honed his fly fishing skills, spending countless hours on the Animas River in the San Juan Mountains! The fishing fire burned brighter than ever before and Grant has been enamored ever since!
Howdy,
Thanks for stopping by!
I’m your guide,
Grant ‘Ole G’ Braudrick!
After college, he returned home and started his professional career as an insurance salesman. He had a desk job he couldn’t stand and a music career on the rise! “It all comes back to how I was raised. I was always around music! My family on my Mothers side is very musically inclined.” In 2008 Grant was offered a touring opportunity to perform a month-long Armed Forces Entertainment tour to Kuwait/Iraq for our US Troops. Upon his return, from a tour that changed his life, he decided to go all in on music and leave the world of cubicles behind, alas “Ole G the ‘Fishin Musician’ ” was born!
In 2012 he was honored to be offered another Armed Forces Entertainment tour performing for our US Troops in Japan, S. Korea, Guam, Hawaii and Alaska. Focusing on music and playing gigs at night “Offered endless opportunities during the week!”, he says. So he started using that free time to get back to his fishing roots, from both sides of his family. Grant comes from a long line of fishermen. “Before I was ever a salesman or musician, I was a fisherman! That’s one of the first things I can remember doing with my Dad, Grandpa and Uncles. Some of my earliest memories are being in the Great Outdoors with family.”
As a musician, he is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. He specializes mainly in stringed instruments, with a minor focus in piano. Acoustic guitars, slide guitars, and ukuleles are his instruments of choice! He considers himself a roots/rock/reggae artist and is known for playing his signature instrument, an acoustic lap steel guitar known as a ‘Weissenborn’. He has played with a band and solo for many years; performing live loop sets, creating soundtracks for acclaimed films and still fulfills media requests with his music to this day. Familiar sounds would align with Jackson Brown, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Bob Marley and Gregory Alan Isakov.
‘Ole G’ continued playing music, carving out a name in the local music scene, he spent his free time fishing as much as possible in the beautiful waterways that abound in North Texas. After a number of years aligning with premier companies throughout the fishing industry, he proudly became a Sales Rep for Rainy’s Flies in 2016. Shortly thereafter, in 2019, he joined forces with Temple Fork Outfitters as the fly fishing sales rep in the TX/OK/AR region, all the while playing music and organically growing his live musical performance following! As a sales rep, his focus was on forging lasting relationships in his territory with both fishing retailers and customers. As an avid saltwater and freshwater angler, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for the outdoors with anglers of all ages and skill levels!
At this current time, he is still a working musician, fishing industry professional/consultant, fishing guide and spends the majority of his free time enjoying the outdoors with his family, friends and pup, Gypsy River!
As a life long fisherman, Grant has a hawk eye for understanding patterns and excels at putting the daily puzzle pieces together to stay on fish!
